A St. Louis-area roof with an ArmorShield II shingle selection

A St. Louis-area replacement with GAF ArmorShield II selected in the signed proposal and a construction photograph showing the installed shingle field and ridge.

Completion recorded

Brown architectural shingles and capped ridge during a St. Louis-area roof installation, with a hose still on the roof

What the signed proposal included

  • GAF ArmorShield II field shingles
  • GAF Seal-A-Ridge ArmorShield ridge shingles
  • GAF FeltBuster underlayment, Pro-Start starter, and WeatherWatch water barrier

Roof details and scope

The signed proposal selects the ArmorShield II package rather than the other shingle alternatives shown in the same document. Its component list names the field shingles, ridge shingles, underlayment, starter, and water barrier separately. A homeowner comparing proposals can use that structure to distinguish a specific roofing system from a broad promise to install architectural shingles.

The June photograph shows a brown shingle field rising to a capped ridge, with another house beyond the roof edge. A hose remains across the shingles, so this is an installation detail rather than a final cleanup photograph. The neighboring building is background context and is not part of the work described here.

The visible shingle field does not prove which underlayment or water barrier lies beneath it. Those selections come from the signed scope and should be accompanied by construction records when comparing a similar project. Likewise, a package label is not a substitute for an issued certification or evidence of how a roof performs in a later storm.

Project completion

The roof detail was photographed on June 27, 2026. The project reached its job-complete stage on July 6. This case covers the roofing selection and visible installation, without adding siding or awning work to the description.

The selected package name included the word Fortified. An IBHS FORTIFIED designation has not been verified for this project.

Planning a similar project?

  • Does the signed contract clearly identify the selected shingle option?
  • Are starter, ridge shingles, and water-barrier products named separately?
  • What installation records will document the layers beneath the shingles?
