Windows Tuned to Your Climate Zone

Windows Tuned to Your Climate Zone

Energy Star Version 7.0 changed the math. Houston and New Orleans need different glass than St. Louis, and Austin needs different glass than both. We install windows that meet your zone's U-factor and SHGC numbers, with impact-rated options where the wind code calls for them.

Why Energy Star Climate Zone Matters

  • Texas and Louisiana fall in the South-Central zone: U-factor ≤ 0.28 and SHGC ≤ 0.23 to qualify
  • Missouri falls in the North-Central zone: U-factor ≤ 0.25 and SHGC ≤ 0.40 to qualify
  • Houston and New Orleans add a hurricane wind layer — impact-rated glass per ASTM E1996 in many ZIPs
  • A window that ranks "Energy Star" in one zone may not qualify in another — the label is zone-specific
  • Lower SHGC matters most in cooling-dominant climates (TX, LA); winter solar gain matters more in MO
  • NFRC-labeled products only — we do not install windows without third-party performance verification

What We Install

  • Vinyl frames (best price-to-performance for most replacements)
  • Fiberglass frames (premium thermal performance, ideal for extreme heat or cold)
  • Wood-clad frames (historic and high-end remodels)
  • Double-pane low-E argon-filled IGU as the baseline; triple-pane available for North-Central
  • Impact-rated assemblies (DP50+) for hurricane zones in Houston and New Orleans, certified to ASTM E1996
  • Casement, double-hung, single-hung, slider, picture, awning, and bay/bow configurations
